Group Classes for Open Water Certification
Class Fee: $195 (Training $150 + Study materials $45)

The adventure of diving begins when you blow your first bubbles with Underwater Excursions. With Underwater Excursions you will get the commitment that you will be trained right, the first time. We are dedicated to developing good divers rather than just looking at you as a number. With our “comfort through repetition” teaching philosophy you will develop the skills necessary to become a proficient diver, and quickly gain confidence in your overall diving ability. Our home study program allows you to spend more time “hands on” with in-water training. Here you will be gaining valuable experience and enjoying a great time underwater in the pool. This program will more than prepare you for the excitement that your ocean dives will bring.

* Our standard class meets three times before you perform your checkout dives: Wednesday evening, and the following two Saturdays; also, we have an extra day of pool on Sunday before our trip to the ocean, with your instructors, should you feel additional time in the water would be beneficial for you. Your open water training concludes with diving the following weekend at the Channel Islands, Monterey or Catalina.

Open Water Fees:
Channel Islands: $225 – Includes scuba gear rental, c-card, boat trip and 5 Instructor led dives.
Monterey: $150 – Includes scuba gear rental, c-card and 5 Instructor led dives.
Catalina: $150 – Includes scuba gear rental, c-card, 5 Instructor led dives.

* Anyone 10 years and older can enjoy scuba diving. You should be in good health and average physical condition. As for swimming skills, you should be able to swim 200 yards and keep yourself afloat for 10 minutes. Most importantly, you should be comfortable in and around the ocean.

* Training fee of $195.00 includes your textbook, dive tables, and instruction fees for a group class and pool training. Also included is the use of regulator, BCD, wetsuit, hood, tanks and weights for all pool training sessions.

You will need to purchase your own personal snorkeling equipment for the class. Personal snorkeling equipment consists of a well fitting scuba mask, snorkel, fins, boots, gloves, knife, and gear bag. Please note that any gear purchased must be a brand that our store carries or it will not be allowed in class due to liability reasons. We do suggest that you consider purchasing your very own SCUBA gear throughout the class so that you may benefit from learning in your very own gear. Ask about our Gold Program!
